Rock excavation and rock fragmentation techniques have been dominated by the drill and blast method for more than a century. However, high explosive based blasting operations have continually expanded in both excessive operating cost and prohibitive regulatory complexity. Our Magnum Buster™ technology has now reversed that ever expanding cost and regulatory burden by utilizing a rapid gas expansion Power Cartridge resulting in a safe and controlled outcome.

Our advanced Power Cartridge technology is based on a small high pressure gas generating propellant cartridge placed at the bottom of a water filled drill-hole. This Power Cartridge is activated by a focused shock wave. The shock wave is generated from a unique hardware device that is placed into the drill hole behind the cartridge. The resulting rapid "high pressure: gas expansion fractures rock and other structural materials in an efficient tensile-hydro-fracturing breakage mechanism.

This technology platform offers great advantages to the mining and construction industries as a true advancement in state-of-the-art rock fragmentation technologies.

Compact and portable the Magnum Buster™ (Boulder Buster) is an ideal tool for reducing and demolishing boulders, rock and concrete structures on projects that demand versatility and power and in locations where conventional explosives are not allowed or are inappropriate. The Magnum Buster™ makes it convenient to reduce these oversized structures without evacuating the immediate area.

The Magnum Buster™ is a non-detonating rock breaking tool utilizing a patented initiation and propellant technology. A pressure impulse is generated inside the rock by the initiation of a high pressure gas expansion cartridge introduced into a pre-drilled hole. The pressure impulse is directed through a non-compressible fluid filled column or water or water gel.

The next generation Magnum Buster™ has replaced the original Boulder Buster as an advanced user-friendly design that delivers significantly increased productivity and lower cartridge consumption.

The Magnum Buster™ separates itself from the competition as it requires only a single (in-hole) cartridge to produce effective breakage results. Improved safety is also a hallmark as the Magnum Buster™ which no longer requires a powerful Booster Cartridge inside the tool itself. All Power Cartridges are placed within the drill-hole and activated by a small Initiation Cartridge in the breach of the tool.

This design not only saves on cartridge consumption but also improves productivity by speeding up the cycle time between shots.
